Until recently it was possible to transfer Safeway/Albertsons Just For U rewards points to Alaska miles. You used to be able to change the local store address on your account to a store in Alaska. Now your primary store address is generated based on your highest spending within a given month.
For most people redeeming for gas/groceries was a better deal anyway. But this was useful for people that were generating huge amounts of points.
