I owe the WCI community an apology. Maybe due to some weird trait I have where I try to be (falsely?) modest and self-deprecating, I have really been “underselling” two of our “products” for way too many years.
After meeting literally hundreds of you at WCICON last March and reading your reviews and feedback about the conference, I realized I’m actually hurting your financial and career success by not doing absolutely everything I can to get as many of you to that conference every year as possible. At the conference, a serious part of the value is the inspiration and camaraderie that takes place there. For most attendees, the Physician Wellness and Financial Literacy Conference is the first time they’ve ever met their tribe and finally removed that taboo that keeps docs and other high-income professionals from talking to each other about money. And we take the wellness part seriously, too—not only with plenty of content geared toward helping you crush burnout and maintain career joy and longevity, but with awesome activities along the way.
But just the financial content by itself is well worth the price of admission. Seriously, it would be very unusual for someone not to, at a minimum, pick up a financial pearl or two that more than makes up for the price of the conference and their time off work to attend. At any rate, I hope you’ll forgive me, and I’ll personally commit to doing a much better job promoting it for next year.
The second product I’ve been underselling is what we call Continuing Financial Education. Each year, we release an online course called Continuing Financial Education (CFE) with a year attached to it. This year’s course is CFE 2026, and we’re releasing it today. Where does that course come from? It comes from WCICON. It has two purposes.
The first purpose is so that when people show up to WCICON, I can tell them that it’s OK for them to go spend the afternoon at the pool, hiking, at the golf course, or with their kids, because all of the content is going to go home with them. Even if they attended every class, they missed half the breakout sessions in person. You just can’t go to it all, given the multiple tracks at the conference. So, all the conference attendees get CFE 2026 thrown in absolutely for free. That way, they can go home guilt-free, despite knowing they missed a chunk of good content at the conference. Then they can watch or listen to it at their leisure at home.
Like all of our online courses, they own it forever, and they can even listen to it “podcast-style” in their car. If attendees missed some of the CME lectures during the conference, they can watch them later to get the full hours. The course offers 16.5 hours of AAFP Elective Credit (equivalent to AMA Category 1 credit) and Dental CE credit.
The second purpose of CFE 2026 is for all of you who couldn’t attend the conference for whatever reason. Maybe you didn’t know about it. Maybe you had to work. Maybe you had to use your time off for something else. Maybe you hate to travel. Maybe all your time off had to be used elsewhere. Doesn’t matter. You may not get all that camaraderie and networking and fun and wellness activities via the online course, but what you do get is absolutely all of the content. All the wellness content. All the financial content.
And you get it for a steal compared to attending the conference. You don’t have to take any time off work. You don’t have to buy a flight. You don’t need any Ubers. You don’t have to pay for a hotel room or fancy restaurant meals. And because we don’t have to feed you expensive conference food, we can deliver the material to you for less than half the fee charged to attend the conference and probably 10% of the real cost of attending in person once you consider the time off work. Using discount code CFE100 before May 12, you get this course for just $689. That works out to just $42 per CME credit.
But it’s not like you only get 16.5 hours of material. You get 40+ hours of awesome stuff. That’s less than $17 an hour. You’re lucky if you can find a financial advisor to teach you this stuff for 10 times that price. And they’re probably not as good as the people presenting the material in the course. I should have been telling you about this deal for years. I’m sorry I haven’t been.
