Update 1/29/26: 40.4% cashback on Topcashback now (ht reader Kyle)
Update from Will: Just marking this as YMMV as there is no guarantee it will payout based on the total before discounts. Additionally the promo code is not listed, but the Rakuten page doesn’t exclude promo codes not listed (usually it does).
The Offer
Reader Morgan sent in the following deal:
- Rakuten has a 45x/45% discount on CookUnity. (Direct Link)
- I chose the 16 meal delivery
- I used coupon code SAVE6020 for 60% off the first week and 20% off the next 3 weeks.
Here is the breakdown of the receipt.
- Subtotal:$191.84
- Taxes & fees:$20.68
- Discount applied:$115.10
- Credits:$0.00
- Total:$97.42
The interesting part is that Rakuten uses the subtotal before discounts to calculate the 45x/45%. Here’s a screenshot of the image. (Note: I’m unsure if the way Rakuten used the Subtotal before discounts is intended and if it will stay this way but wanted to share while this is still possible.)
This can further be discounted using credit card offers:
- Amex has 30% off CookUnity
- Chase has 40% off CookUnity
- Citi has 45% off CookUnity
I did the Chase Offer. For me, the final calculation was: $97.42 – $86.32 – (40%*97.42) = $-27.87. I earned $27 and got 16 meals.
Our Verdict
Thanks to reader Morgan for sending this in. Looks like an excellent chance to try this out and see if you like their meal delivery service. Some people might value Rakuten points at more than 1-cent each which would make this deal even better. Let us know if you see any other stacks or options to make this deal better.
Separately, there’s a deal from Rakuten for $45 back on Gobble meal delivery which you can read about in this post.
If you’re new to Rakuten, you can sign up first via a referral link and get $50 back – see the details on that and our referral link in this post.
