Update 5/27/26: Seemingly confirmation has been provided. #6 seems to say that product changes won’t be occurring for existing cardholders. I wouldn’t take this to mean that the cards won’t ever be product changed as this is just guidance for bank workers and I assume they are referring to any immediate product changes for existing cardholders. Especially with how the card is structure (5% with cap) I wouldn’t be surprised if we see the card product changed in 12 months time to something else. That is just speculation on my part though.
According to reddit user Karanel Citi will be discontinuing the Custom Cash Card by the end of the week. The same user previously provided accurate information regarding the Citi Rewards+ card being discontinued.
It’s unclear what would happen to existing cardholders, but Citi Rewards+ cardholders were forced to product change to Citi Strata (no annual fee). For those not familiar the Citi Custom Cash card offers the following:
- $200 sign up bonus after $1,500 in spend
- No annual fee
- Card earns at the following rates:
- Earn 5% cash back on your top eligible spend category each billing cycle up to $500 spent
- Earn 1% cash back thereafter on all other purchases
Obviously this is just a rumor, but it seems reliable to me based on the previous history and their comment history. If you’re interested in this card I’d be applying ASAP. Before applying for any Citi cards I’d recommend reading these things people should know about Citi cards.
