Citi To Reduce Transfer Rates To Choice Privileges & Preferred Hotels I Prefer (By Up To 50%)

Citi has announced that starting on April 19, 2026 the transfer rates to Choice Privileges and Preferred Hotels I Prefer will be decreasing. 

• Current rates:
  • 1,000 ThankYou Rewards Points are transferable for 2,000 Choice Privileges® points
  • 1,000 ThankYou Rewards Points are transferable for 4,000 I Prefer Points
• New rates:
  • 1,000 ThankYou Rewards Points are transferable for 1,500 Choice Privileges® points (reduced by 500 points)
  • 1,000 ThankYou Rewards Points are transferable for 2,000 I Prefer Points (reduced by 2,000 points)

Sad to see these rates decreasing. I prefer being cut by 50% seems like a lot, there was some value at the old transfer rate but can’t see there being any value there after a 50% cut. Choice was already a somewhat niche transfer and that gets even worse with the new rate. Neither of these have offered Citi transfer bonuses in the past. Wells Fargo still transfers to choice at a 1:2 rate.
